Blackpool's Flume Closing!Since 1967 the Log Flume has thrilled guests at the Pleasure Beach. It was the 8th flume to be built, and it was constructed by Arrow Dynamics, the inventor of the Log Flume. This was the first Flume in Europe and the Longest in the world. It still holds the record of the longest track length on any flume.
This picture shows the Log Flume in its current drained state. At the moment the ride is just abandoned, and it is almost certain the ride will be demolished this year, unless a revamp is planned

i'm guessing it will be replaced with a Vekoma Jnr. coaster.
Mr. Splash
Well the rumours are that an Intamin water coaster will replace the ride, but come on Water Coasters are huge! No way that's gonna happen.

The proposals for the site:
Demolish the ride
Re-vamp the ride
Build a new ride
Build the water coaster
Use it for Traumatizer
There is also rumours for a Vekoma coaster
Mr. Splash
Well out of all them rumours the only ones I can see happening are the Re-vamp and the Vekoma

Well, I have spoken to someone who works for PBB, and he said, the future is not decided yet. Even though it says on the park guide that its going.

Is this a ride OP or a senior member of staff that you have this information from. There is a big difference on how reliable the answer are.
Guest
A senior staff member. The owner of Club Pleasure Beach. An official PBB club.

Is theer even a source that Southports even closing?
Mr. Splash
I think there is but I forgot where
Guest
Loads of eople who said, and I have spoken to someone whos Dad works there.
Mr. Splash
Well most eople only hear rumours and working there doesn't make much difference. Anyway this is about the Log Flume not Southport so dum dom
I've never ridden the Log Flume, but I've always thought how impressive it looks from the top of the Big One.
Guest
I can't believe you have never ridden the Log Flume. Are you afraid of water?
Mr. Splash
Look at my Top 5 water rides
Also I could never be bothered to queue up for it when there are some serious coaster to be ridden!
Guest
The queue is always quick for me.
Mr. Splash
Still 5 minutes is almost 1 Big Dipper
Anyway did anyone else hear them stupid rumours about the first drop falling down
Guest
Yes. It was actually on the Pleasure beach xtra website for a while. lol
Mr. Splash
Mind you it shows what a bad condition the ride looks if everyone believed that
Guest
I think it's falling apart. Everyone else says it is fine. It looks unsafe to me.
Mr. Splash
Well you can see on the photo that the concrete supports are still logged with water even though no water has touched them in the past month!
Guest
The Log Flume is always drained when not operating! They would have to have it on otherwise!
Mr. Splash
Yeah but they only drain the ride at night. The flumes been drained for well over a month now and the supports are still water logged!
Guest
Hmm. I don't know then. I hope it is open In August, when I go. I want one last ride on it.
Mr. Splash
To be honest I think this is now the end. If the Logs are still on the ride there there is a possibility but???
Guest
Well, it is ment to open in the holidays. And isn't ment to be demolised until September.
Mr. Splash
Where has this rumour come from that its running in the holidays?
Guest
Well, websites. It isn't closed for good.
Mr. Splash
But no one knows that for sure. I mean if this was the case, then what would be the point in it being closed now?
Guest
It wpuldn't last the whole year, and high maintainenence coasts.
Mr. Splash
Yeah but if it were in that badder condition it would have closed ages ago.
Guest
Yes. I think it will go. I think, that it would cost too much to keep for another year.
Mr. Splash
I think if the Flume were to carry on it would need its concrete supports replacing with steel!
Guest
I think if it were to stay, it would need everything replacing.
Mr. Splash
No. The Logs are in a good condition, and the basin can be patched up now and then.
Guest
They still have the old logs. I saw them when I was on the monorail last year.
Mr. Splash
I never knew the Logs were replaced??? Perhaps they are the spares from when the station was re-designed.
Guest
When the stayion was refurbished, the logs WERE replaced.
Mr. Splash
So where in the park are these old logs?
Guest
Somewhere at the back. By Grand National I think.
Mr. Splash
I don't understand why they would want to keep these Logs. Is there a limit to how many logs you can put on a flume?
Guest
Don't know. I suppose it depends how big it is. PBB's used to have 24, then they changed it to 12. I liked the old station. I thought it was good, the way it had two lanes.
Mr. Splash
I didn't have two lanes. It had the old Arrow roundabout entrance.
Guest
Well, it acted as two lanes.
Mr. Splash
Not really. And they changed the station before you were born so how can you say you liked the old idea?
Guest
They didn't. I remember it having two lanes. The station was changed in 2000
Mr. Splash
Oh right. Sorry, I must have gained the information from a false source. Still the station shouldn't affect how many logs???
Guest
Less time to load people onto them.
Mr. Splash
No the station shouldn't affect it by half!
Guest
Yes, less space to store them.
Mr. Splash
Anyway just to make a summary. The Log Flume is very likely to close this year, and it is not yet certain what will replace the ride.
Guest
I am going next month, so I'll take some pictures.
Mr. Splash
I think we can pretty much say its the end now. The holidays have begun and no water in sight.
Mr. Splash
Park News - (8/3/06) As previously rumored, Blackpool has confirmed that the Pleasure Beach Log Flume will take it’s last passengers on September 3rd. The Arrow made log flume opened in 1967 and has been in operation for 39 years.

Too bad,looks pretty dam good.
Mr. Splash
I haven't yet ridden it, but I plan too this summer!
If possible I will try and get a POV with a water proof camera.
Mr. Splash
I have now ridden the Loggy! And god I wish I'd done it a few more times. Its definately one of the better flumes.
Anyway its bacically confirmed the flumes going, and its nearly on its way to gone. Watch this topic for the distruction diary...
