I will have been a drummer for 24 year come 31st of this month
Mr. Splash
I take it you have a lot of experience then!!!
We're doing drums at the moment, in our music lessons. So far I've taught myself to play the beggining of Walk this Way. I sneeked in and tried for ages to get it right. I was just guessing which drums to hit, until it sounded right
luke_manc
B = BASS
S = SNARE
B-S-BBB-S B-S-BBB-S
Mr. Splash
Yes!!! I got it right :o
Bass is the one where you use your foot right?
Also I'm trying to teach myself to play the guitar :D
luke_manc

Bass is the lowest one, the snare is the one with the snares underneath it
My Kit
From behind
From the front
Plan view
I do have another 10 inch mounted tom that used to go on the far left of my other three but I don't use that as I can't position my hi-hats where I want to.

Mr. Splash
Okkkaayyy. Erm nice kit
oz boy
My grandpa wants me to play the drums or Percussion. SO do i.
Mr. Splash
I'd like to play the bass guitar, but I don't have the money too at the moment. Hey Oz do you have a drum kit?
luke_manc
| Mr. Splash wrote: | Okkkaayyy. Erm nice kit |
It's a gorgeous kit, TAMA Granstar from the 80's - Very nice sound to it as well.
Mr. Splash
I wasn't saying it like that, I just don't know much about drums. So have you owned the drum kit since the 80's?
Also I'm getting guitar lessons now
luke_manc
No, I haven't owned the kit since the 80's, it was made in the 80s.
Mr. Splash
So when did you first get the kit?
luke_manc
Around 1997

I play the keyboard sometimes.
luke_manc
I play the organ... heh heh, alll riiiight
Guest
How the heck did you get it in your house?
luke_manc
I... Took it apart and moved it in drum by drum?
Guest
drum by drum. I thought it was an organ?
luke_manc
Sorry, I keep forgetting I'm the oldest here - It was a rude joke
Mr. Splash
Well since no one had a clue what Luke was on about, I don't think there is much point removing this joke

I saw a post before saying you play the harmonica. Is that true?
Mr. Splash
Yeah. Its probably the easiest one going
Guest
Well, if you play that, you really are sad.
Mr. Splash
Well come on, anyone can pick one up and play it
Guest
You are sad, and don't even realise it.
oz boy
Insulting the admin isn't a good move.
Besides, the harmonica is cool! i played it a little bit (Just messed around on it) and i loved it!
Mind you, i fell the same way about the Banjo.
Guest
ANYONE who plays the harmonica is sad. And I know the admin, and he won't mind.
Mr. Splash
I think the Banjo's OK. I mean it only has 4 stings so its way easier than the guitar

No offence here but you really need to learn some facts before you type. The Harmonica is one of the hardest and oldest musical instruments in the world and because of it's involvement in blues, it paved the way for all other types of music.
Listen to people like James Cotton, Paul Butterfield (who jammed with the legendary Muddy Waters) , Junior Wells, John Mayall (Mayall was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac when they were a blues band, in fact, he originated the band with Peter Green after he was in a band called The Bluesbreakers with a certain Eric Clapton).
People need to learn music history, especially people into ten-a-penny dance and chart music as the music I'm into is the reason why the music they're into exists. Way over half these dance or "R'n'B" songs sample "old" records and make them fashionable again.

I didn't mean they're feeling sad. I meant a different type of sad.
Mr. Splash
Yeah I think Luke knew that. Its true what he says. Many of the Aerosmith songs rely on the harmonica.
Guest
I hate the harmonica.
Mr. Splash
Its probably in many songs you listen too, you just don't notice them. If you like Western music then you couldn't do without it!
Guest
I don't like western music AT ALL.

Are you seriously winding me up?
I'm 29 years old, I have a high level of intelligence so I knew what you meant... just because someone plays blues it doesn't mean they're sad, the blues are a means of letting your sorrows go and to feel happy.
You really need to:
a) grow up a bit
b) learn about the things you claim to hate so you know if you hate them or not. It's very hard to hate something you know nothing about, when you're older you'll know.
Oh and you like dance music - it's the most western and commercial of all music.

I don't mean they are sad as in feeling unhappy. I mean sad as in pathetic.

Starters Luke knows more about music than anyone I've ever met before, and if you'd have read his post fully then you would have found your last post was pointless.
Guest
I did read the whole thing. Errrr.
luke_manc
Jesus Horatio Christ... Are you completely special?
If you re read my post and had any ounce of intelligence about you (and for a 14 year old you should) you'd have fathomed out that I understood what you damn well meant and wouldn't have to resort to the very childish and very chav-like action of winding people you've never met up on the internet.
I knew exactly that you meant they were dumb or stupid or in need of a life but the fact is, what I meant was the people who pioneered playing blues harp (that's a harmonica to those who don't know), they had lives, they had lives you wouldn't believe.
The people who pioneered the blues had hard lives, hence they wrote about it in their songs, they felt like there was nothing left for them so they kept spirits up by singing about it and it helped.
I said it once and I'll say it again:
Instead of taking your short life's troubles out on me, a guy you don't know on the internet, and going offline when I ask you why you're being an idiot or instead of posting that you hate something without fully understanding what it is you're slagging off, why not grow up, learn something and know what it is you're talking about so you don't grow up looking like a prize tool.
And for the record, this isn't me having a go at anyone for nothing, it's me sending a few things home to our boy... It needs to be said.
Mr. Splash
No Luke I see your just expressing an opinion, one which I agree with. The Blues evolved many genres of music, and even if you don't like the sound doesn't mean its "sad".
Guest
The music is sad as in unhappy and the people are sad as in pathetic. God help me!
Mr. Splash
Well I can tell you've not listened to any Blues music what so ever so how ever you know the people are sad I do not know. Blues is meant to make you happier and trust me BB King is not sad or pathetic!

How can blues make you happy? It is depressing.

1. God is a mythical entity created by the Catholic Church to help people keep faith in dark times... It can't help you
2. Your post once again shows you to be young, foolish and very naive - You can not say the s**t you are typing and not look like a complete pratt - Fact.
3. How the hell are blues musicians sad and pathetic when they've lived more of a life in one year than you will ever have done in 14 years?
4. How the hell can you say the music is sad and pathetic when you have not got the first inkling what blues is?
I'll give you a hint, most of the c**p you listen to should have blues in there somewhere, it's in every single bit of music you hear and every single bit of music that's released into the charts it just needs a good ear to listen for and talent to play.
I've just asked you on MSN why you're acting the way you do if you're 14... You could have fooled me... I hope all your problems sort themselves out soon, or before you start junior school or your anger might get you into a fair bit of trouble.

For a start, I am 14. And second, I am in my third year at High School!

Play the song Red House by Jimi Hendrix and tell me how depressing you find it

I have better music to listen to thanks.

[quote]you can't have heard much Hendrix and you can't say anything is better than something you've not experienced.
Ha ha, Hendrix - Experienced? No?
sorry, I'll have to explain this joke - Hendrix's band was the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

I am going to scream in a minute. Anyway, back on topic, does anyone play keyboard.
luke_manc
Scream all you want. You're the one starting the arguments,
I'm just letting you know that your arguments don't hold much water.
Mr. Splash
Luke is correct here you are talking a lot of nothing. Anyway I play keyboard but not very well.
Guest
I aint that good at it either.

luke_manc

Well, end of the day I play drums, have done for 24 long years, have been in various bands in those 24 long years and am currently in two bands - Vertiis and Rancour... Both heavy metal, both excellent... Rancour is currently being torn a new a**ehole in Warrington in our rehearsal space and when we get something decent down, I'll link it to here.

I used to be in a band, but it ended.
luke_manc
You're 14, what did you play, triangle?
Guest
Well, first I was vochals. Then drummer. Then keyboardist.
luke_manc
you mean vocals
Guest
Yes. I wasn't a good singer though.
luke_manc
Hang on... you're into dance music and you're arsed about quality of vocals?
Do I detect the hint of irony?
Guest
I like pop aswell
luke_manc
Pop means popular, it's all the same thing nowadays.
If heavy metal was in the charts all the time and there was nothing else, it'd be pop
