Port Aventura was never owned by Universal. Universal had a small share in the park which has now expired.
Yeah I heard about that though. Its funny Spain has one of the best areas for theme parks but they're are only about 3 major ones.

^ Wrong *Dan*
Universal owned the park. it use to be called Universal Mediterania. Universal still owns the park, but they don't have Universla in the name anymore.
Sheesh!

No it started out as just Port Aventura, I think it was 1998 that Universal cut in and then it became Universal Med. But the point still is they don't own the park they have a share in it. Spanish banks pretty much fund the rest.
Disney own 0% of the Disney Land they just opened. The only reason they have their names on it is because they provided the imagineers.

no, because i did before. I'm not going to re-peat myself. But i will anyway.
Universla owns Port Aventura. Just because they don't have it in their name doesn't mean they don't own them NBC owns the Universla parks, but Universal Hollyuwood isn't called "NBC Universal Hollywood" Is it?
Sam with Tussauds.

Its not to do with the name. I'm not disputing the fact that Universal have been involved with the park, I'm just saying they don't officially OWN it.
