Theme or Fair

I would definately go for theme park, but some people do prefer fairs.
oz boy

Who would go for a fair?
1st of all, they have dodge Carnys!
2nd, They never have any good rides
3rdly i could do this all day!

I guess some people like them though.
Mr. Splash

Well some people like to feel less safe on rides, and I don't agree when you say they never have any good rides! Just look at some of them on the German Fairs.
oz boy

tchhh.

In Australia, fairs are where there are a few inflatable slides, some really slow electric car rides, maby some trampolines and a twister ride, and a few carnival games.

Mr. Splash

Well they're not much better over here.
oz boy

!!!! Dude, England has Rollercoasters with fairs! They have rides that to theme Aprks in AUstralia have!!!
Mr. Splash

Can we put Amusement park in there too...
Mr. Splash

What do you mean amusement park?
Guest

Amusement parkas are like PBB. As that is NOT a theme park.
Mr. Splash

Well for this poll it classes as a theme park. It has themed rides so its a theme park.
Guest

Fae enough then. I suppose a theme park, doesn't have to be themed.
Mr. Splash

An amusement park would be like a fixed fairground somewhere at your local park
Guest

Yes. PBB is a theme park. It is permanent, and well built. Plus the rides are absolutely great! All except Space Invader 2.
Mr. Splash

It used to be a fair however its status has changed.
Guest

I know. I hav the book: Blackpool Pleasre Beach - A century of fun!
Mr. Splash

Wow that's an old one now. Still when you think about it Flying machine isn't an amusement ride and that was one of the first on the scene
Guest

It is meant to be the first ride built at PBB, but I have seen pictures of a Carousel there, before Flying Machines were built.

No it's not, it's an Amusement park, as all the rides are in one park and one zone.
Alton Towers is a theme park as it has one park set into different zones each with different rides themed to that zone ie:

UGLAND:
Corkscrew,
Rita: Queen Of Speed

X-SECTOR:
Oblivion
Enterprise
Submission

FORBIDDEN VALLEY:
Air
Nemesis
The Blade
Ripsaw

et al, ad nauseum

Plus the adverts say (or used to say)

"BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH: EUROPE'S GREATEST AMUSEMENT PARK"

Dude, you ride it for amusement ... you have to be literal sometimes.

The topic should have read:

FAIRGROUNDS: STATIC OR TRAVELLING?

Actually, PBB is themed. The area around Valhalla is Viking themed. And the area by the Avalanche is Alpine themed.
luke_manc

This... Is... *sigh*... True

However, Valhalla is themed with a cafe/bar and Avalanche is themed with Alpine Golf... It is not the full park that is themed unlike AT which is.
Mr. Splash

Ahh right I get it now. Cheers Luke

I'll add it to the poll...
